Their specialist contract division has a proven track record in supplying furniture serviced apartments, student accommodation, private residential and hotels. Recently, we supported Distinction Group in their collaboration with Moxy Hotel, Slough. To pursue this hotel chain's mission to shake up the industry, they were looking for a fresh and striking design scheme to help them achieve this.
About the brand
The Marriott Moxy brand, originating in Milan in 2014, has rapidly expanded, establishing a strong presence in the UK hospitality market. Moxy has revolutionised the economy hotel market by introducing a refreshing and lively approach to the budget hotel scene. Their aesthetic is characterised by thoughtful design and a vibrant atmosphere.
Now very much renowned for being a high-energy, stylish, economy lifestyle brand that redefines travel without compromising on comfort, their hotels offer clean and stylish accommodations. Breaking the mould they offer 24/7 grab-and-go food service, USB connections, super-fast Wi-Fi, communal social spaces, and even a virtual guest book for sharing experiences on Instagram.
Setting the scene
The Marriott International's Moxy Hotel and Residence Inn in Slough opened three months ahead of schedule in February 2021. Inspired by the 90s era and Slough's association with the classic TV series The Thunderbirds, the hotel aimed for a stylish decor that incorporated bold and precise tones, creating a perfect and charming aesthetic. The design was to blend earthy wood furniture with industrial black fixtures, and neutral tones with bursts of subtle colour, evoking a retro-chic atmosphere.
The Project
Distinction Group undertook the task of manufacturing and installing furniture throughout the hotel bedrooms and Residence Inn. The luxurious suites in the hotel showcased a blend of natural sand and grey fossil tones alongside hickory wood wardrobes, desks, and laptop desks.
Ensuring that the furniture design flawlessly embodied the project's brief, each bedroom suite, apartment, and kitchen unit recreated a comfortable home away from home. From the industrialised black powder finishes to the espresso and camel-coloured cushions upholstered in our Infiniti range. The rooms feature textures and colours, with earthy rust-hued tones woven throughout, for a stylish and memorable finish.
By infusing style, comfort, and a vibrant atmosphere into their hotels, Moxy has set a new standard for the economy hotel market, with the furniture supplied by Distinction Group playing a pivotal role in achieving this goal. The Moxy Hotel and Residence Inn in Slough now stand as a testament to the power of innovative design and quality craftsmanship in the hospitality industry.
